Lynx is perhaps the best of the text-only browsers available. It can be run WITHOUT running xwindows, just from a spare terminal. It requires VERY little system resources, and can be used on very old computers, or computers without xwindows, to find and download files.
If you are behind a vey bad connection, you can ssh to a computer with a very good one, and Lynx will download content at the fast speed. A 90k html file will "instanly" render on your very slow computer from the ssh conection. Its not nice?
