With Linux you have a wide range of very different word processing software.

Some Examples:

- OpenOffice.Org: a big package for everything, including word processor, spreadsheet, etc. Sometimes called OO.Org.

- KOffice for the users of KDE

- Abiword, if you use Gnome

- a completely different approach: tex/latex. That is sort of coding a document, but the printed result looks brilliant.
