From Grokdoc

Jump to: navigation, search

I wouldn't like either to discourage you nor to make you mad at me. I noticed you are making (very valid) contributions in a "manual and help" sense. When I asked, I was told that grokdoc was the place to gather usability studies (both raw data and analysis) and Linux Questions Wiki was the place to gather manual-like contributions, FAQs, HOWTOs etc. I think the goal for grokdoc is to gather and analyze problems, to be solved elsewhere (both in the form of a top-quality documentation and in the form of highly-usable systems which need virtually no documentation). -- 4lex 10:28, 21 Jun 2004 (EDT)

Once again, I want to make clear I appreciate your work :) In my opinion, the main page does induce misinterpretations with the sentence beginning "Our goal is to create a useful manual on basic tasks that new users will find simple and clear and easy to follow...". I suppose we will encounter this problem again and again, and I fear we can lose some good contributors in this way. I think it would be a good idea to link each problem to its solution in LQWiki. (And maybe vice-versa?). This would be helpful for newbies who come here with problems and want some help, and also would direct the efforts of other users wanting to lend a hand with documentation to the right place. -- 4lex 12:27, 21 Jun 2004 (EDT)
