Hi Jeremy... sorry to leave a message on your personal page... this is a worthy project but there is no easy way to leave "ideas" or "suggestions"... may I suggest a "Suggestion Box" link on the main page?

By clicking the "Discuss this page" link on every page you will get to the Talk page for that article, which will allow you to discuss the article, leave comments, offer suggestions, etc.

Hi Jeremy, just wanted to say nice job getting something like this setup. I've been a user on LinuxQuestions.org for a while now and I'm very impressed with this site and its potential. Interactive FAQs are very handy in the tech world, its nice to see one put to such good use.

Thanks Sock Jeremy 22:51, 14 Jun 2004 (EDT)

Hi Jeremy,

I really like this site, I am sure it would have a big future, if there was not this big flaw - why did you choose such a restrictive license?

Will the license also be used for the resulting manual?

With the nc-clause, it is not possible for distributors of free software to include documentation from your site.

Can this detail be re-thought?

With kind regards,

Zeno, I didn't choose any license. All matters such as this should be directed at PJ, who makes the decisions for GrokDoc. I should note that this issue came up in the groklaw announcement, so you may want to read that before asking her.

Hi, thanks for the response, I will have a look at the announcement and maybe put my advice somewhere else. Sorry that I have bothered you, I tought as the webmaster you might be a contact person for such questions.
Best regards, Zeno

N and M in Recent Changes ???

Hi Jeremy

Sorry to be such a dunce, but what do the N and M signify on the recent changes page? I chacked the help button and no luck. If it is 'significant' perhaps you could post a response there.

M means the user has marked the change as minor. N means the article is new. Jeremy 23:38, 15 Jun 2004 (EDT)

Thanks, best regards and yet another great job.

PS Do you and PJ never sleep?

Thanks...and not much it would seem ;) Jeremy 23:38, 15 Jun 2004 (EDT)

Sorry for throwing this 'whereever.' As a seasoned linux technical support person I would like to make a suggestion for grokdoc. Invest time in teaching people how to use man pages and apropos. A lot of people know of the man page system, but its a surprise how few know of apropos. What good are man pages if you dont know where to look? Sure not all man pages are useful (take rpm for example, I know what I'm doing and it still confuses me) but some are a lot more intuitive.

Confusing naming

man pages is a great idea; however, I think there is a larger usability problem here - currently, learning your way in a linux system is like learning a foreign language. Awful lot of unhelpful acronyms to perform simple tasks like opening an archived file or viewing list of running processes. It would be far more useful and intuitive and professional looking if Linux information source was called not 'man pages' but 'Linux Help', and not 'apropos' but 'Search Help'. Just a thought.
