You should mention why KDE and gnome are important to each other. You mention that we should have both but after I looked at the cross-compatible program reference on the main page I understood it more.

I always thought that programs using GTK, like by example GAIM, can also run crossplatform? I have running GAIM and the GIMP here on my WinXP box and it works really well
