Software and processes

Software is the sequence of commands the computer follows in order to get something done. Almost all aspects of the computer's behavior are determined by the software that is run on it. Software is stored on media, that can be CD-ROMs, DVDs, Harddrives, or other. But, since software is only 'data' as long as it is not executed, it can be transferred via any link like all other data. This makes it possible to download software, to copy it from a remote storage media onto the computer.
