Mandrake-Other LetterPrinting
From Grokdoc
Cancel print jobs? Printing works well, but print a long document then want to cancel the printing? My family could not possibly find the CUPS admin tools buried in Menu/System/Configuration/Printing. But that doesn't matter because it would not let them cancel it anyway (error-client-forbidden). Doesn't Windows put up a printer logo in the system tray which you can click on while it is printing to do this?

After finding a place to cancel the printjob (Mandrake 10's menu editor allowed me to add a printer control panel to the main menu) the printer just keeps printing, even though no job exists anymore. Turning on/off the printer causes garbage to be printed. I'm afraid to cancel print jobs due to this.
Not specific to letter printing, but printing in general... I can't figure out how to make my linux box print. I've tried CUPS, and whatever other icons Mandrake provides in their launch menus which suggest they are printer related. It seems that all of these take forever to run, both to pop up the first screen, and to refresh after I make any change. I haven't been able to find a clear explanation of what I need to do, or even better, specific step-by-step instructions. I don't need/want to become a linux expert. All I want right now is to start using linux productively, so I can concentrate on the transition from Windows.
