Gentoo-Firefox

In many Linux users' opinions, Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox, are the best browsers to choose from. They already have many plugins available, block popups when necessary, and even manage to get into many sites that block those who do not have Internet Explorer. For Gentoo users, installing it is simple:

Mozilla Install:

su -
Password: (enter password for root)
emerge mozilla
exit

Mozilla Firefox Install:

su -
Password: (enter password for root)
emerge mozilla-firefox
exit

NOTE: You only need to install one of these browsers. Mozilla is an all-in-one package for surfing the web, editing web pages and reading email. Mozilla Firefox is s stand-alone browser, and can be used by those who don't need the more comprehensive list of features Mozilla provides.

Once installed, you can start Mozilla by typing mozilla in your console, or choose it from your menu. (KMenu for KDE users, Gnome Menu for Gnome users, of course) The same thing goes for Mozilla Firefox -- start it by typing firefox or choosing it from the menu.

By experimenting with it, you'll find its interface much easier and intinuitive than Internet Explorer's.

You can also emerge a binary version of Firefox by appending -bin to the end of the package name - eg. emerge mozilla-firefox-bin. This can save a ton of time, especially when dealing with FireFox's fast upgrade cycle (or an older, slower computer).
