Floppy

floppy - aka: floppy disk, diskette, floppy diskette. Refers to various formats of removable magnetic storage media. The most prevalent version left is roughly 3.5 inches square with a rather stiff plastic case around a flexible magnetic media. In this flavor there is a metal door that slides out of the way upon insertion into the computer to allow access of the drive to the media. Older varieties lacked the stiff plastic case, having a rather "floppy" paper (or something) case. Some new computers lack floppy disk drives.
