Evolution
From Grokdoc
Evolution is an extremely well put together email client. If you're coming over from MS-Windows, you'll like how similar it is to MS-Outlook. I've used it exclusively for a few years. I've used some of the others, but they just didn't do it for me. If you're used to using Netscape Mail, use Mozilla Mail and you won't notice any differences, other than no crashing ;)
Now that Novell has open-sourced Connector, Evolution has become the logical choice for people who have an Exchange back-end server. Connector allows you to use Evolution as an Exchange client, so your group calendaring is available in Linux.
Is Evolution Free (as in beer) for the non-commercial home-user? All software on this site should state it's status as far as cost.
Ans: Evolution is included on RedHat and Fedora Core installs and is available for download free from Novell. It's also "free as in speech".
- Practically all of the software on this site can be obtained cost free. All of the software on this site (should) likely be gettable for free-as-in-speech
Amazingly, launching evolution is not practical at all from SuSE 9.1 using KDE. I believe it depends on the user running GNOME as the default environment and haven't figured out how to change it.
Contextualize this with the fact that I am a network admin who has been running Open Source on the back end but not the desktop till recently...
Do I have to go back to OS X??
